As soon as I returned from the South of France, I was lucky enough to be jetting off on another summer holiday, this time with my boyfriend! We travelled to Tenerife last year and thought we’d book a holiday to another Canary Island this year as we loved it so much there!
A summer break was exactly what I needed after my first year of university! I visited my lovely friend from uni in the South of France where I had a lovely week in the sun, of course had some amazing food and visited some beautiful places!
River Island are KILLING IT with their holiday style at the moment! I love treating myself to something from River Island every now and again. Emphasis on the word ‘treat’ because it’s definitely not the cheapest of clothes shops but the quality is so high and I love some of their statement pieces.
I recently worked as a catering and events assistant for a couple of weddings at the most beautiful venue in Oxfordshire. As I am studying event management at university, pretty venues make me very happy. I had been told this was a high end and exclusive wedding location and I couldn’t wait to visit.
I know I get a little peckish between meal times and I’m sure many of us do! I know I also end up snacking if I’m bored doing essays at uni, but snacking doesn’t always have to be unhealthy or something you might regret! I’ve made a list of some of the snacks I reach for if I want to satisfy that little bit of hunger. Or boredom…
A few days ago, I was invited by the lovely Heather from heatherlerrynphotography.com to attend the book launch of Freedom Seeker by Beth Kempton. I had never heard of this book before so I did a little research and it looked amazing!
I went shopping around Valentines Day and I was desperately looking for a good quality foundation that didn’t make my face look orange. I have fairly pale skin and struggle to find a foundation that doesn’t make me look like a satsuma. This is the issue with buying foundations I find, as even though you test the colour on the back of your hand in the store, it never seems to look the same when it’s actually on your face. Then you’ve spent the money and there’s no way back.
These days it seems like we have to start planning our futures and exactly what job we want to have so early on in our lives. We are expected to choose the degree we want to study, and so the career we definitely want to have, before some of us have even become adults. And yes, while students are expected to be making huge life decisions, they still have to raise their hand to ask to go to the toilet.
One of my new years resolutions this year was to start saying yes a lot more. I’m too often susceptible to staying in my comfort zone because, well, that’s where I am most comfortable. But I’ve realised that by turning things down, I’m not going to get where I want to be in life. The outcome of using those 3 letters could actually surprise me.
When I started university this year, I really noticed how bloated and uncomfortable I was getting by eating simple things such as my granola in the morning or a piece of toast. So I did some research and there were quite a few pieces of advice that included limit the amount of gluten in your diet. So that’s what I have been trying very hard to do and I have to admit, I’m feeling so much better because of it! I’m not nearly as bloated and uncomfortable after eating, so I’ve kept this up. I mean, if I’m eating out and really fancy something like bread or pasta, I won’t deny myself having it, but for the most part I am eating gluten free and cleanly. So this is what a typical day in my food looks like!
