I recently worked as a catering and events assistant for a couple of weddings at the most beautiful venue in Oxfordshire. As I am studying event management at university, pretty venues make me very happy. I had been told this was a high end and exclusive wedding location and I couldn’t wait to visit.
I arrived for my first shift at Caswell House and it was a gorgeous sunny day, perfect for a wedding. It was a stunning barn venue with amazing picturesque views of countryside surroundings. The walls were a lovely stone and the whole place was covered in beautiful plants and flowers. I was given a tour of the building beforehand so that I was familiar with my surroundings. The main barn was set for the ceremony; with rows of elegant wooden chairs facing a decorative alter with fairy lights. It was beautiful.
The garden area of the barn was used for the second wedding. It was another lovely spring day and the ceremony was held outside, the guests seated around an arched doorway and the bride and groom married underneath it.
The wedding breakfast was held in the main barn as well so a quick turn around had to be done. The tables were laid out and the table settings placed perfectly. Each table featured flowers used during the ceremony and the name cards were adorned with lavender. The second wedding’s name cards were in fact little wooden pieces, adding to the rustic nature of the wedding. All the details counted.
One of the things I love about weddings are the toasts given by the wedding party. I was outside of the room when they were happening and the words they spoke were so heartfelt and loving. It made me smile the way that the bride and grooms shared their love for each other in front of their family and friends.
I have to tell you – it isn’t half a tease when the food is ready to be served, it looks absolutely immaculate and smells delicious when you’re feeling a little hungry! All of the dishes were presented beautifully. I was very grateful that we got a little taste of the food at the end of the evening!
I can’t wait to work at more weddings like this, perhaps at some venues as lovely as this one.
Lots of love,
