During the winter months, the cold weather can be harsh on the skin. I find my skin is not as clear as it was during the summer and it can be quite dry. Along with drinking a bit more water, I have put together a little list of my favourite winter skin care products I love to use during the colder months.
- Elemis SOS Emergency Cream
Okay, so this may sound a little on the extreme side, but I promise you it’s not! I absolutely love this cream and the whole Elemis skincare range. I was recommended it when I went for a facial treatment a while ago and it is a must for skin experiencing winter breakouts and dehydration. It is perfect to use a moisturiser in your daily skin care routine and I use it after I have used my facial cleanser before bed.
It is great for restoring stressed, tired and irritated skin to its natural balance. It is quite a thick and creamy texture but feels light on your face. Whilst the product does sit on the skin initially after having been applied, the cream will absorb slowly, leaving your skin feeling soft and looking hydrated. This cream also has a very relaxing, spa treatment smell, which is amazing and makes me feel great. The only downside to this product is that it is on the pricey side – the RRP is £52.50. However, if you shop around, you can buy the cream for around £39 mark. My go-to website for beauty at a great price is allbeauty.com. But it does last for ages so I do recommend it!
A great body moisturiser is a must during the winter. Your body can get quite dehydrated and not as smooth as you want it to be. I recently picked up some Bio-Oil I found on sale and I absolutely love it! I don’t know why I haven’t tried it before. It smells amazing and a few drops in your hand can you can slather your body for beautifully smooth skin.
The oil contains Calendula, Lavender, Rosemary and Chamomile oils, which is why the product smells so great. Even though it is an oil product, it is in no way greasy on the skin and leaves you so smooth after it absorbs. It also contains vitamins A and E so is a great vitamin boost for your skin. Bio-Oil can also be used to care for scars, stretch marks and to help even out skin tone. I use my Bio-Oil in the morning after my shower and in the evening before bed and I really am noticing the difference in how hydrated my skin is! It is not expensive either – I got the 60ml bottle for £8.99 in Boots and it lasts for ages!
- Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm
A lot of people, including myself, suffer from dry or chapped lips during the cold weather. It is uncomfortable and sometimes painful so a moisturising lip balm is an essential. My favourite at the moment is the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm in the flavour Dark Chocolate and Mint. This tastes amazing, especially as I love mint chocolate! There are of course other flavours available, like the original cocoa butter formula. It is a great lip moisturiser and keeps them hydrated for ages. It is SPF 15 so will protect your lips and it contains vitamin E. This lip balm is so convenient to carry around and use on the go as it is compact and is not expensive at all. I bought mine from Boots for £1.99!
I really recommend these winter skin care products as the cold weather continues. I always feel great after using these products. Make sure you give your body the care it needs this winter! All opinions are of course, my own.
Let me know your winter skin care favourites and your thoughts on mine!
Lots of love,
